Samsung Teases the Arrival of the Galaxy Ring

Korean Samsung users have stumbled upon icons resembling a ring in the Galaxy Wearable app, sparking speculation about the potential release of the Samsung Galaxy Ring next year. This finding has reignited previous rumors, including a patent filed by Samsung earlier this year for a device called the ‘Galaxy Ring,’ which measures health indicators and sleep. In addition to the Korean patent, Samsung also filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a smart ring in 2015.

The online publication 9to5Google has further corroborated the existence of the Galaxy Ring by discovering references to the device in the Galaxy Wearable app’s code. This includes the name ‘Galaxy Ring’ and evidence of Bluetooth connectivity prompts specific to the smart ring.

Samsung entering the smart ring market could have significant implications for the category. With the current dominance of the Oura Ring, Samsung’s smart ring could introduce more competition and make the product mainstream. Moreover, a Samsung smart ring would seamlessly integrate with Samsung Health, enabling data sharing with other popular Android apps like Google Fit and Strava.

For those who struggle to sleep with a smartwatch, a smart ring could offer a non-intrusive alternative for sleep tracking. Samsung’s smart sleep-tracking features, which are known for their accuracy and comprehensiveness, could potentially provide valuable insights into sleep patterns and address issues such as night sweat problems.
