Judge Issues Gag Order on Donald Trump as He Continues to Be a Public Nuisance

In the midst of a slew of criminal cases and legal battles, former President Donald Trump just can’t seem to keep quiet. His incessant verbal attacks on social media have landed him in trouble once again, this time prompting a judge to issue a gag order. The order comes after Trump used his platform, Truth Social, to berate a staff member of the judge overseeing one of his cases, falsely claiming she was in a relationship with Chuck Schumer.

With multiple criminal indictments looming over him, Trump has resorted to ranting on social media in an attempt to sway public opinion and further his political ambitions for the 2024 presidential campaign. On Tuesday, he launched an unhinged attack on Allison R. Greenfield, a court clerk involved in a $250 million civil fraud case against him. Trump posted a photo of Greenfield smiling with Schumer, insinuating misconduct and demanding the dismissal of the case.

In response, Judge Arthur Engoron issued a limited gag order, warning Trump of “serious sanctions” if he continues to make public statements about the case. Engoron emphasized that personal attacks on court staff members will not be tolerated. This is not the first time Trump has been warned about the consequences of his incessant remarks; a previous judge cautioned him about prejudicing a jury in a separate case.

It is unfortunate that the judge had to resort to treating Trump like an unruly child, but it appears that Trump’s indulgence in self-promotion surpasses all concerns, including his own freedom.
