Instagram Testing Multiple Audience Lists for Stories

Instagram Testing Multiple Audience Lists for Stories

Instagram is currently testing a new feature that allows users to share Stories with specific groups of friends. The experimental feature gives users more control over who sees the Stories they share.

In a recent live broadcast on his page, Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed that the app has started testing the ability to share Stories to multiple audience lists. Currently, Instagram has a ‘Close Friends’ feature that allows users to create a list of specific friends and share Stories exclusively with that group. This feature provides some privacy, particularly for those with public profiles.

However, there are times when users want to share something with people outside their closest circle of friends. The new feature would allow users to create and maintain multiple lists, ensuring that they can share relevant updates with different groups of people and subsets of followers. Mosseri expressed his excitement about being able to create additional lists for the people in his life, as it offers even more control over who can see his Stories.

For example, users can create separate groups for their siblings or for local acquaintances who share a love for food. Although Mosseri is excited about this new feature, it is important to note that it is still being tested, and there is no guarantee that it will be released widely.
