Former Ubisoft Executives in Custody Following Investigation into Harassment Allegations

French police have detained and questioned five former Ubisoft employees, including vice president Tommy Francois and chief creative officer Serge Hascoët, as part of an investigation into moral and sexual harassment within the company. The individuals were taken into custody after allegations of abuse and assault were made by developers on Twitter. This led to a series of suspensions, firings, and resignations, including Maxime Béland and Hascoët. The investigation signifies the seriousness with which the authorities are treating workplace harassment and violence.

An attorney representing some of the employees involved stated that the detention and questioning of Francois, Hascoët, and others sends a strong signal that offensive behavior in the workplace is a serious offense. However, it should not overshadow the broader responsibility of the Ubisoft company. It remains unclear whether charges will be filed against those in custody.
