Massive Volcano Eruption Rocks Southwest Iceland

A massive volcano erupted in southwest Iceland following numerous earthquakes in the Reykjanes Peninsula. Concerns are raised about the eruption’s proximity to major infrastructure, including the Svartsengi geothermal power plant. Social media is ablaze with footage of enormous lava plumes, which are larger and more powerful than previous eruptions. The nearby town of GrindavĂk had been evacuated prior to the eruption. This is the fourth eruption to occur in the Reykjanes Peninsula in three years.
