Doctor Who Showrunner Reflects on Handling of Doctor and Yaz’s Relationship
Chris Chibnall, the showrunner of Doctor Who, has reflected on how he handled the romantic relationship between the Doctor and Yaz. He described their dynamic as an ‘unrequited love story,’ although the feelings between them were mutual. Chibnall explained that he wanted to create a heartbreaking narrative by keeping their relationship unfulfilled. He added that the final scene on top of the TARDIS was meant to symbolize their unspoken affection. Chibnall admitted that, in hindsight, he might have explored their queer connection more explicitly.
