Chinese EV Sets Record with 650 Miles of Range from 150 kWh Battery

Chinese EV manufacturer Nio has achieved a record-breaking range of 650 miles from its prototype ET7 model. The vehicle was driven for 14 hours in relatively cool temperatures, showcasing the capabilities of its semi-solid state battery. The 150 kWh battery, the largest in any passenger car, will be available for lease separately. Manufactured by WeLion New Energy Technology, the battery utilizes semi-solid state technology to achieve higher energy density and fire-resistance. However, it is not expected to be available in the US due to recent regulatory changes. Nio offers a battery-as-a-service model, allowing customers to sign up for a monthly subscription and receive quick battery swaps and upgrade options.
