Ukrainian Sniper Recounts Revenge Against Russian Soldier Who Wounded Comrade

A Ukrainian sniper, known by the call sign Taras, shared the story of how he sought revenge for his wounded comrade by eliminating a Russian soldier with precision and bringing back the video to show his friend. The soldier, speaking in a video interview with United 24, a Ukrainian government-run platform, revealed the incident took place in Bakhmut. After tracking down the Russian soldier, Taras took out the soldier just as he was about to shoot an RPG. He immediately went to his wounded comrade and presented the video as proof of revenge.

According to the video’s voiceover, Taras is regarded as one of the best snipers in Ukraine and is a part of the special operations forces. However, the article notes that there is no independent verification of his kill.

Taras emphasized the importance of accuracy and avoiding exaggerated claims some snipers often make. He mentioned that all shots are recorded through the sights of their rifles, and a kill is only counted if video confirmation is available. His farthest successful hit was at a distance of 1595 meters (5233 feet), requiring three attempts to achieve.

Being a sniper demands years of training and significant financial investment, costing tens of thousands of dollars. Ukrainian snipers, including the well-known Ghost of Bakhmut, have been playing an increasingly influential role in the conflict, with claims of eliminating 558 Russians from just one elite unit.
