The Machine’s Functions

The 1stAI Machine has eight separate displays, including a full-color LCD screen for playing the final video and six smaller black-and-white screens that show the storyboards. Users can select storyboards as source material, and Runway’s Gen-2 AI model applies transformations to create a 30-second video with scenes that resemble the original storyboards. The machine also has a music selector that allows users to choose AI-generated soundtracks in different genres. Additionally, users can select a style, such as corporate ladder or barbie obsession, to add unique generative video aesthetics to their project.

The Future of the 1stAI Machine

Currently, the 1stAI Machine is a one-of-a-kind prototype, and there are no plans to sell it. However, the interest it has garnered suggests the possibility of a more advanced version running on lighter and cheaper computing resources, such as a Raspberry Pi microcomputer. Future models could also allow users to upload their own storyboards or source imagery. Furthermore, the creators envision the 1stAI Machine being used at music festivals or large events, where attendees can create their own AI-generated videos through the Runway software and project them onto large displays.

While the creators of the 1stAI Machine do not intend to pursue a stand-alone hardware business, they recognize the value of having dedicated hardware for AI programs in certain contexts. This type of hardware helps users focus on the AI production process, free from distractions. Although their work can be completed on a standard PC, these professionals often adopt dedicated hardware setups to enhance their creative workflow.
