Tesla Expert Says Fit and Finish Issues on Cybertruck Prototype Shouldn’t Concern Buyers

Prospective Tesla Cybertruck buyers shouldn’t worry about some of the panel gaps and smears that have shown up in recent sightings of the electric pickup, according to auto expert Sandy Munro. Munro emphasized that these sightings are of prototypes, which are still a work-in-progress, and are not representative of the final product that will be delivered to customers. While acknowledging past quality control issues with Tesla, Munro believes that the Cybertruck will look much more polished once it goes into production. The vehicle has already generated significant hype, with over 1.8 million prospective buyers on the reservation list. Despite criticism of flaws seen in the prototypes, Munro stated that judging the quality of a vehicle based on a prototype undergoing physical testing is unfair, as the focus is more on performance than aesthetics. Munro also highlighted the benefits of the stainless steel body of the cybertruck, which is more resistant to scratches and fading, making it ideal for rugged activities. Although the release date for the Cybertruck is uncertain, Elon Musk has stated that it will be available by the end of the year.
