Rep. Lauren Boebert defends Rep. Matt Gaetz against GOP criticism
Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado has come to the defense of Rep. Matt Gaetz amidst criticism from various GOP members. Gaetz, who led the charge to oust Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker, faced backlash from his party following Wednesday’s vote. Boebert warned her colleagues against retaliating, stating that they would be ‘sorely mistaken’ to expel Gaetz. While Boebert did not break party lines in the vote, she had clashed with McCarthy earlier this year when he was vying for the Speakership. Gaetz’s method of removal was criticized by multiple GOP figures, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. McCarthy accused Gaetz of acting out of personal payback for an ongoing House Ethics Committee investigation. Boebert’s representative did not comment at the time of writing.
