October Gaming Releases: A Gamer’s Dilemma

A chill breeze, a red leaf on a tree, the distant sound of ‘Spooky, Scary Skeletons’ playing — October has officially arrived. And while the non-gamer revels in the spirit of the season, gamers are bracing themselves for the onslaught of game releases this month. With a jam-packed release slate, October leaves gamers with no time to spare.

From highly anticipated titles like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to Super Mario Bros Wonder and Hellboy Web of Wyrd, the sheer number of games hitting the market is enough to make Alone in the Dark run scared.

While reveling in the gaming frenzy, it is important to reflect on recent industry news. Layoffs have been announced at Telltale Games, Team 17, and Naughty Dog. Additionally, several former Ubisoft executives have been detained by French police following allegations of sexual assault and harassment at the company. It is crucial to remember the people behind these games, many of whom no longer have jobs.

Personally, our editor plans to dedicate time to playing Spider-Man 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, games with a lot of personal history. There’s also the recently released Cocoon, which seems worth exploring since it’s on Game Pass.
