Grok: Elon Musk’s Chatbot Rival to OpenAI Now Available
Introducing Grok: Elon Musk’s Chatbot Rival to OpenAI
Elon Musk‘s rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT is finally available to the public. In November, xAI, an AI company founded by the tech billionaire, unveiled its conversational AI chatbot named Grok. The purpose of Grok is to provide “Conversational AI for understanding the universe”, as stated on xAI’s website.
Grok was designed to be the antithesis of ChatGPT. Unlike OpenAI’s chatbot, Grok has the ability to answer “spicy” questions and has a more rebellious and sarcastic personality.
How to Access and Use Grok
Early access to Grok is available for users who have purchased the premium version of X, formerly known as Twitter. To access Grok:
- Subscribe to X Premium+ by creating an X account and clicking the Grok icon on the left sidebar of your home page. Then, press the “Subscribe now” button at the bottom and follow the billing instructions.
- Choose between the two versions of Grok – “Regular Mode” or “Fun Mode”. Regular Mode provides matter-of-fact responses, while Fun Mode generates humorous and sarcastic responses.
- Enter your questions in the chat box and receive unique responses based on the version of Grok you selected. Grok can also draft emails, create tailored fitness plans, and simplify complex concepts.
Elon Musk’s Serious Approach to Grok
Elon Musk is taking Grok very seriously. xAI has raised nearly $135 million in equity financing and aims to raise up to $1 billion for xAI. Grok has real-time access to information via the X platform, giving it a significant advantage over other models. Musk’s intention for Grok to have a sarcastic and rebellious personality creates a unique conversational AI experience for users.
