Former Fox News employee files lawsuit accusing Tucker Carlson’s former producer of sexual assault
Former Fox News employee alleges sexual assault
A former Fox News employee has filed a lawsuit against Justin Wells, Tucker Carlson’s former producer and ‘right-hand man,’ alleging that Wells sexually assaulted him in 2008. Andrew Delancey, the plaintiff, also accused Wells of retaliation after he declined his advances. The lawsuit claims that Wells created a ‘culture of sexual harassment’ at Fox News that enabled the assault. Delancey filed the complaint under New York’s Adult Survivor’s Act, which allows survivors of sexual abuse to file civil suits even if the statute of limitations has passed.
The details of the alleged assault
Delancey stated in the lawsuit that on one occasion in 2008, Wells lured him to his apartment under the pretense of meeting up with coworkers. However, Wells proceeded to assault him by throwing him against the bed, trying to unbutton his pants, and aggressively grabbing his groin. After the assault, Wells retaliated against Delancey by withdrawing a recommendation for a higher-paying role within the company.
Denial and response
Wells, through his attorney, denied the allegations and vowed to contest them vigorously. Delancey’s then-supervisor, who he had approached with the incident, allegedly discouraged him from going to HR, citing their lack of trustworthiness. Fox News has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
History of sexual harassment at Fox News
The lawsuit references previous sexual harassment and assault allegations made against prominent figures at Fox News, including Roger Ailes, the former CEO of the network, and Bill O’Reilly. The case against Ed Henry, who has been accused of rape, is currently ongoing. Delancey’s lawyer stated that the lawsuit aims to shed light on the culture of sexual harassment at Fox News.
