First Major Snowstorm of the Season Set to Hit Cascades, Rockies, and North Dakota

First Major Snowstorm of the Season Set to Hit Cascades, Rockies, and North Dakota

The northern Cascades, Rockies, and North Dakota are preparing for the first major snowstorm of the season this week. The National Weather Service has issued warnings of hazardous travel and icy road conditions. The storm is expected to bring significant snowfall, with mountainous areas in Montana potentially receiving up to 2 feet of snow. Central Montana is predicted to be the most heavily affected region.

Residents have been making appointments to get their snow tires put on and addressing issues with underground sprinkler systems. The extreme change in weather, with temperatures dropping from the lower 80s to potential snowfall, has caught many people off guard.

The snowfall is expected to impact schools, with Helena Public Schools advising families to check for any bus delays or cancellations. The storm is also projected to move across northwestern and north-central North Dakota.
