President Biden Announces Tech Hub Designations
The Biden administration has designated 31 ‘tech hubs’ in 32 states and Puerto Rico with the aim of promoting innovation and job creation within specific industries concentrated in these areas. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo expressed her excitement, noting that the initiative received an overwhelming response, with 400 applications received by her department. The $500 million grant distribution is part of an effort to expand tech investments beyond major cities like Austin, Boston, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle. The Regional Technology and Innovation Hub Program is aligned with President Biden’s economic agenda, emphasizing the importance of spreading opportunities and creating good jobs across the country.

The designated tech hubs extend across various states, including Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Montana, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Virginia, New Hampshire, Missouri, Kansas, Maryland, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Minnesota, Louisiana, Idaho, Wyoming, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, New York, Nevada, Missouri, Oregon, Vermont, Ohio, Maine, Washington, and Puerto Rico. These hubs aim to stimulate investments in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotech, fostering economic growth and innovation within their respective communities.
